UDI's Programs and Services

The University Design Institute's work is structured around three transformation phases with tailored programs and services for our partners: Reimagine, Redesign and Rebuild.

Building a sustainable model for change today and in the future is perhaps the most critical aspect of transformation. UDI’s Rebuild work focuses on supporting capacity development efforts in individuals, institutions and systems that increase knowledge of and ability to adapt to higher education trends and drive change. UDI’s design imperatives serve as the organizing mechanism for these Rebuild efforts and UDI’s well-tested tools and techniques are utilized so that partners have the ability to lead their own redesign, reimagine and rebuild efforts in the future.

Custom Workshops

UDI’s Custom Workshops are designed to address key topics within our Design Imperatives for higher education transformation. These tailored sessions foster collaborative problem-solving and technical knowledge sharing in areas critical to institutional change. Led by experienced facilitators and technical experts, our interactive workshops blend strategic insights with practical expertise, creating an environment of innovation and learning.

Design Studios

Our structured Design Studios are tailored to support the implementation of plans and emerging ideas in higher education. Led by a diverse group of UDI's experts, design studios offer guidance and counsel to overcome barriers and move activities forward.

Targeted Consulting

UDI’s consulting services for higher education transformation provide tailored, technical support to institutions and units driving change. UDI's Programs

UDI's programs are built on frameworks that have been tested and validated through our work with previous partners. Programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of our partners, but the content and delivery are more standardized compared to our services.

Design Accelerator

The Design Accelerator provides an opportunity to support the upward mobility of institutions, the students they serve, and the overall educational fabric of the higher education systems. Regional stewardship led by universities include human capital development; workforce development, partnerships with industry, local government and community engagement to design and support a thriving social ecosystem. The Design Accelerator’s model deploys a design that support and encourages collaboration between participating institutions for a multiplier effect within the region.

Design Fellowship

The Design Fellowship is a multi-month program to develop emerging higher education leaders as designers. Best suited for senior, academic, and administrative leaders in the higher education sector, including government ministries responsible for higher education, the program develops advocates for innovation and impactful change in higher education. Fellows are exposed to global higher education experts, innovative solutions, as well as practical design methodologies and tools. Through immersive sessions and individual work, the Fellowship creates a collaborative space for leaders to build their knowledge and skill sets to impact change.
