UDI's Redesign Programs and Services

The University Design Institute's work is structured around three transformation phases with tailored programs and services for our partners: Reimagine, Redesign and Rebuild.

One of the greatest challenges institutions face is how to move from ideas to action. UDI’s Redesign work with higher education institutions and systems focuses on how to move forward in an inclusive and structured way. The following programs and services help partners identify and validate key priorities and plan the sequencing of transformation activities, taking into account existing strengths, necessary resources, and key stakeholders to accelerate change.

Transformation Roadmaps

Transformation Roadmaps from the University Design Institute provide a strategic, design-led approach to envisioning and planning institutional change. Transformation Roadmaps help higher education institutions define a clear pathway toward a desired future-state through an inclusive, facilitated co-design process with key institutional stakeholders and external experts to help catalyze thinking.

Different from a strategic plan, Transformation Roadmaps focus on key priority areas, identifying goals, metrics, resources and key decisions to guide the process. By aligning aspirations with these actionable steps, Transformation Roadmaps empower institutions to effectively navigate change and achieve sustainable, high-impact transformation.

Design Clinics for Planetary Health

The University Design Institute has developed Design Clinics for Planetary Health to help institutions rapidly learn from global and local best practices, draft their own ideas for implementation, and accelerate their progress.

These Design Clinics are multi-session engagements that provide frameworks and build collective paths forward for how institutions and systems can sustainably create deeper impact on the communities they serve through enhanced curriculum teaching and learning, research and innovation, thought leadership, campus operations and more.

Implementation Planning

Implementation Planning with the University Design Institute transforms vision into actionable steps, empowering institutions to drive meaningful change. This strategic process helps higher education partners develop short-, mid-, and long-term plans to advance transformation. Through collaboration with our experts, institutions co-design a sustainable activation plan focused on key dimensions like leadership, culture, infrastructure, services, and partnerships. Implementation Planning ensures institutions have clearly defined milestones and the data-driven insights needed to achieve their goals, creating a strong foundation for lasting success in higher education transformation.
