Interdisciplinary GenAI Community of Practice Launched

Opening session of ASU Generative AI Community of Practice

Working collaboratively with leaders from ASU’s Academic Enterprise, Enterprise Technology, and Learning Enterprise, UDI co-designed a conversation around the topic of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). This is a thorny, yet increasingly important, facet of higher education. Leveraging UDI’s experience addressing similarly complex and emerging concepts in higher education, the team created an inclusive environment to connect various stakeholders and resources. This engagement coalesced the energy around several different and dynamic topics so that participants could activate and move forward with clarity.

Beginning with a presentation on the current state of GenAI, a group of over 70 attendees were then invited to participate in productive group-level interactions that built a path forward for all. The report from the engagement provided a road map for the sub-topics to mature as communities of practice. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about the current state and imagine a future state for generative AI in education, where they felt empowered to navigate.
