Makerere University ASU Visit

On June 12 - 15, 2023, UDI co-hosted a leadership site visit by Makerere University to ASU. The university is based in the Republic of Uganda and just celebrated 100 years in 2022. Makerere currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees with over 10 constituent colleges, all operating as semi-autonomous university units. It is one of the largest higher education institutions in Uganda.

UDI has been working with Makerere University for almost 2 years as part of the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program e-Learning Initiative which was launched in September 2020 to address the disruption to learning at higher education institutions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen the partner universities to deliver high-quality and inclusive online instruction and provide virtual support to all students. During the June site visit, UDI hosted a design session in which the members of the leadership delegation outlined their e-learning objectives and began to create a vision as well as identify obstacles and solutions. They felt this was extremely helpful in rethinking how they could align their resources and leverage the process of co-design and prototyping. We look forward to our continued partnership with Makerere University as one of several ASU units which are part of the e-Learning Initiative.
