The University Design Institute (UDI) at Arizona State University (ASU) hosted the inaugural cohort of the USAID UPSKILL Innovation Leaders Fellowship Oct 7-11, offering Filipino higher education leaders an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of ASU’s innovative practices and learning ecosystem. 

Sixteen senior academic officials from twelve (12) Philippine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) began their journey as Higher Education Innovation Leaders Fellows of the ASU-led fellowship program as part of the UPSKILL program. 

Inspired by Dr. Susan Blumenthal, Arizona State University’s Public Health Technology Innovation Initiative aims to revolutionize public health infrastructure through cutting-edge technology. The initiative, highlighted at a recent summit in Washington, D.C., focuses on education, research, and community empowerment to tackle public health challenges and enhance decision-making.

Dale P. Johnson, UDI Director of Digital Innovation at ASU, joined an esteemed panel at the Korean Ministry of Education's summit in Seoul, focusing on leveraging digital transformation in education. Discussions highlighted ASU's pioneering efforts and calls from regional leaders to integrate technology for enhanced learning outcomes across Asia.

Linnaeus University engaged with UDI to advance their 5-year strategic roadmap. Sessions included interdisciplinary collaboration, strategic partnerships, leadership development and organizational culture.

34 Korean universities participated in a global innovation and leadership workshop series.Topics included redefining the mission of the university, building innovative cultures, teaching and learning innovations, strategic partnerships, growing research portfolios, and advancing student success.
