Envisioning the Future of Higher Education on the Continent

Africa represents the most important long-term frontier for global higher education and workforce development. The continent has the youngest population in the world and will account for the largest share of global labor force growth over the coming decades. At the same time, higher education systems across Africa are under intense pressure to expand access, while improving relevance, quality, graduation rates and employment outcomes.

For UDI, this is not a short-term project. This is an opportunity to reimagine how higher education can better serve young people, employers and societies in an era shaped by rapid technological changes, artificial intelligence, climate pressures, and evolving labor markets. If successful, our work together will cultivate a new generation of leaders, educators and learners equipped to shape Africa's future — and in doing so, influence the future of higher education worldwide.
